He is also a Fellow of the Taxation Institute of Australia.

John’s career has involved provision of a full range of services to small businesses, including the farming community. He is also involved in taxation, business planning, succession planning, budgeting and general counselling of small business operators.  He has managed the IT operations of practices from 1975 to 2008, including considerable involvement in accounting practice software user groups, at both local and national levels.

John has been involved in ICA Membership Services Committees from 1977 to early nineties, including the organisation of a number of State Congresses for ICAA.

John specialises in a wide range of services to small business clients including accounting, business advice and taxation (up to representation at Board of Review hearing, and several tax audit involvements); planning (business and succession), self-managed superannuation funds, business structures, establishment and de-registration or liquidation; negotiations and human resources services on behalf of clients.  John also implements, assists with and trains on IT applications in businesses, and has provided limited system support.

John has served as the director of public company, B&E Ltd for 21 years until the merger with WHK in July 2008, including period of three years as Chairman, and long term member and chairman of audit committee.

John is involved in several administrative and other roles in community organisations such as: Assisting with sporting teams as his children grew up, including coaching and managing in junior basketball, soccer and cricket; long term involvement with kayaking, including former Commodore of Tasmanian Canoe Club (based at Forth), Director of Canoe Tasmanian Inc for four years, compiler of results for Tasmanian and some Australian kayaking events from 1997 to 2007; qualified as International Judge for Slalom Kayaking, and officiated at World Cup, World Championships and  two Youth Olympics events at Penrith White-water Stadium, Sydney;  former President, Treasurer and performer with Devonport Choral Society, current member and treasurer of The Don Chorale, and member of choir, performing regular public concerts.

John has learnt to value above all else, the lives of his five children, sharing with his wife the pride he takes in their progress and achievements, enjoying their company, and understanding their absolute importance to his life.

John enjoys many outdoor activities, including fishing, hunting, bush-walking, gardening, kayaking, a little golf – generally participating in many things, without necessarily excelling at them.

John is proud of the service he has been able to give to a broad range of clients throughout his career. He has also been privileged to have had the opportunity to provide, for many young people, the base from which they may develop their careers.
