A Sparkling End to WHK Ramornie Day

While the morning of WHK Ramornie Day looked a bit gloomy, the afternoon turned out to be sparkling for Grafton race goer Karly Hiatt as her name was drawn from thousands of entries to win the WHK Diamond Draw.

Shortly after presenting winning horse Pinwheel's connections with the WHK Ramornie Cup Karly's name was plucked from a very full barrel by WHK's Marketing Coordinator Cath Bashforth. "It was quite funny after we announced Karly as the winner, there was a scream from up in the grandstand, but we couldn't see where it came from. Needless to say when we finally caught up with Karly she was very excited to be given her prize" said Cath.diamond_draw_2

The Diamond which was provided by Harveys Jewellers in Grafton attracted a lot of interest on the day with many of the ladies and some gentlemen entering the draw. Cath said "A lot of the men that were putting in entries were very quick to let us know that they were hoping to take the stone home to their better halves. We were thrilled to get so many entries, it turned out to be a great promotion."

With WHK committed to another four years sponsorship of the Ramornie, planning for the next event will get underway in the near future. "We are definitely aiming to make the most of our sponsorship of this great day. 2010 has been a huge success thanks to the hard work of the CRJC and we expect 2011 to be even better" Cath said.

Win at WHK Ramornie Day

Well the count down is on until the WHK Ramornie Handicap is run in Grafton on the 14th of July. We are very thrilled to announce to our clients two very exciting competitions that will run on the day.

The first will appeal to the ladies. Any ladies attending WHK Ramornie Day will have the opportunity to go into the draw to win a Diamond. The WHK Diamond cup_2010Draw will take place after the running of the WHK Ramornie Handicap on race day. All the ladies need to do is visit the WHK stand and leave us your details. We are very happy to be running this competition in conjunction with Harveys Jewellers in Grafton.

The second one is for the punters out there. Anyone who likes to place a bet has an opportunity to win a share of $2000 in the WHK Straight Six. This competition will require punters on the day picking the winners of the last six races. They just need to fill in the entry form and drop it to the WHK stand before race three.

The official announcement of these competitions took place on the 5th of June in Grafton when the July Racing Carnival hosted its Get Ready For Racing fashion parade and carnival launch.

WHK Supporting Ramornie for 5 Years

WHK are proud naming rights sponsors of the Ramornie Handicap. In 2010 we announced our commitment to the event by signing on as sponsor for 5 years.

pc030040 WHK Chief Executive, Mr. Sam Sullivan highlighted the success of the 2009 WHK Ramornie Handicap as a deciding factor in signing on as a sponsor for another 5 years. "Our involvement with the 2009 WHK Ramornie Handicap was extremely succesful. We felt that by agreeing to a long term sponsorship WHK was able to build on that success and assist the Clarence River Jockey Club in promoting what we feel is the most prestigious race in regional Australia. We see the partnership with CRJC as enduring and a great opportunity to connect with the local community which has a long history of involvement with racing."
