Traralgon is the largest city in the Latrobe Valley, neighbouring Morwell which is home to most of Victoria's power generation facilities.  The immediate population of 22,000 is largely understated, with over 70,000 people across the entirety of the Latrobe Valley region.  The large commercial centre includes excellent street and mall based shopping, historic buildings, tree-lined residential areas and beautiful parks and gardens.  It is a major commercial and industrial hub, which in recent years has included the continued migration of large government departments.  Traralgon boasts a trendy café and restaurant scene along with excellent schooling and sporting facilities.

Like Warragul, Traralgon is within close proximity to the ski fields of Mt Baw Baw and the South Gippsland region, as well as the scenic Strzelecki Ranges and historic community of Walhalla.
