WHK Group Limited ('WHK') is a listed Australian company that has grown steadily through strategic acquisitions and organic growth since 1997. WHK initially operated under the Investor Group name. Investor Group provided a model that many firms recognised as a better way to deliver quality services to clients – a total financial solution. Clearly, the better we understand our clients and their total needs, the better able we are to deliver high quality advice clients can rely on.
This understanding led to a range of firms joining Investor Group. The firms initially included superannuation funds and progressively broadened to include a range of accounting practices. These practices were from Melbourne, then spread to regional Australia and before long crossed the Tasman to New Zealand. In fact, some of the leading accounting practices throughout Australia and New Zealand were the first to join this new model to enable their clients to access a broader range of services.
How WHK was named
The name WHK came from the first major capital city firm to join Investor Group, which was Williams Hatchman & Kean (WHK). At this time all firms were operating under their own separate names and as the firms introduced best practice across the group many of them adopted the WHK name. From 2008 most firms dropped their predecessor names and simply became WHK. And in 2011 Brisbane, Sydney & Perth adopted the name Crowe Horwath - in line with the world wide affiliation with Crowe Horwath International.
Many have tried to replicate this model, however the success of WHK has always been the quality of the firms that have joined. A high benchmark of quality client care and a culture that is down to earth and practical ensures that only firms that can deliver these same high quality services are invited to join the group.
